About the Author

Duff Hart-Davis

Duff Hart-Davis is the author or editor of over 40 books, and the biographer of Peter Fleming, Raoul Millais, and Philip de Laszlo. He has written novels and military memoirs, served in the Coldstream Guards and flown numerous sorties as an observer in the RAF. His lifelong interest in natural history led to the widely-praised encyclopaedia Fauna Britannica, and to Audubon's Elephant, the story of how J.J. Audubon produced his great work The Birds of America. His most recent book is Our Land at War: A Portrait of Rural Britain 1939-45 which was published by HarperCollins in 2015.
